Sat 8th & Sunday 9th October 2016

1 or 2 day course exploring the local herbs of Boxmoor and Hemel Hempstead  with Haskel Adamson -Medical Herbalist

Day one Saturday 10am - 5pm
Foraging wild foods and Herbal medicine identification and teaching session.

We will journey forth through the fields and towpaths learning the culinary uses of wild foods and medicinal herbs. We will learn simple botany which enables safe plant identification.  We’ll collect edible and medical plants from private land along the way returning to the Fishery Wharf cafe to cook a meal using some of the plants gathered.
As a group we will prepare a lunch using some of the plants and herbs foraged that morning with modern insights into nutrition. Tom the CafĂ© chef will assist in the preparation of the dishes which he will cook in the cafe’s wood fired pizza oven. This will be an informal chance to discuss nutrition and how herbs can be incorporated into food.

In the afternoon will we have another opportunity to seek out Herbal medicines in the local environment and go deeper into their uses and how we can make simple herbal preparations from them. There will be time to connect with plants on an energetic level as well as learning their pharmacological properties and actions on the body. The teaching will be aimed at a general level so that everyone can learn to use local plants.

Cost per person for one day one including drinks and three course lunch  £75.00

Day two  Sunday 10am -5pm
Medicinal and cosmetic cream and medicinal balm making workshop. Using herbal teas, oils, tinctures and essential oils in order to make high quality creams.
